Marco Polo

Marco... Polo

Marco... Polo

I stumbled across this story on hiphopdx.com, another one of my frequently visited sites. And one of the top MCs of the Year (check it out on MTV if you don't believe me), Soulja Boy Tell Em, is now claiming with a sudden increase in vocabulary and better lyrical content, he will be isolating his fan base...

I'll let that one simmer.

Anywho, he claims that he is indeed capable of doing so, he just wishes to hold off for a little bit since his fans wouldn't really get it. I guess he may be reiterating, in a less intelligent way the same sentiments Jay has made in "Moment of Clarity" stating:

"I dumbed down for my audience and doubled my dollas
They criticize me for it yet they all yell holla"
If skills sold truth be told, lyrically I'd be Talib Kweli
Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense, (I Did 5 Mil),
I ain't been rhyming like Common since"

I wouldn't call the King of Cranking It half as brilliant as Jay. Here's what the Teen of the Souf said:

""If I wanted to, [I could] go that route and be respected [not for] my success ... respected [for] my music and my lyrics or whatever."

But I guess until he steps his lyrical game up, we'll just have to deal with ill-fated collaborations with other self-proclaimed great artists like Bow Wow. So enjoy the tomfoolery.

"Last night ya girl forehead was on my abs"
PRICELESS!

I wonder what kinda shitty music my kids will get to listen to...
